Goodbye / Brighton, UK / Jun 2009
Small golden notebook with poem, dropped in the mailbox of 22, Borough Street, Brighton. On the 28th of June 2009 I turned 22. On that day I wrote the poem "Goodbye", which I had composed earlier in the year, in a small, found, golden notebook and went on a walk to find a suitable mailbox to put it in. Borough Street was chosen because it had a strange sign, of a hand pointing it's finger, under The poem is about breaking up with somebody important. My gesture is both personal, as it represents moving on to a new part of my life, as well a play with private and public space, within the context of mail art and concrete poetry. The last three pages put the finding into context for the person discovering it. Click on the image for a readable size, or go to Text>Poetry for the original version.
